Project Initiation
Planning implementation and assessing parental demand for the flexible free entitlement is a complex task. It involves understanding current patterns of provision, assessing parental demand for flexibility and talking to providers (i.e. schools, playgroups, other sessional providers and childcare settings offering full day-care) about how they can change and adapt their provision to meet the new requirement. Another important part of the process is deciding the exact limits of how flexible to make the entitlement, and communicating with parents about availability.
Case studies
These case studies give examples of how local authorities have
approached developing an overall project plan for tackling the task; working
towards rolling-out the extended flexible entitlement across their
area.
